What do you need to do as a Wow Nature ambassador? The following jobs are up to you to choose!
Volunteer for Hiking Leader (Student)
Position Overview: We are looking for a student volunteer to lead outdoor hiking activities and share the beauty of nature with participants. The Hiking Leader will be responsible for guiding groups on safe and enjoyable hikes, teaching them about the environment, and encouraging a deeper connection with the outdoors.
Responsibilities:
- Lead hiking groups on various trails, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all participants.
- Provide guidance on outdoor skills, environmental awareness, and local wildlife.
- Monitor weather conditions and make adjustments to routes as necessary for safety.
- Assist in organizing and preparing materials for hikes (e.g., maps, water, first aid kits).
- Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment for participants of all skill levels.
Requirements:
- A strong passion for outdoor activities and the natural environment.
- Previous hiking or outdoor leadership experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A basic understanding of safety protocols for outdoor activities.
- Ability to motivate and inspire others to enjoy nature.
- Reliable and punctual, with a willingness to learn.
Duration: Flexible hours (part-time)
Volunteer for Website Maintenance (Student)
Position Overview: Wow-Nature is looking for a creative and tech-savvy volunteer to maintain and update our website. This role is ideal for students who are passionate about technology and the outdoors.
Responsibilities:
- Regularly update website content to reflect the latest outdoor programs, events, and news.
- Ensure the website is running smoothly, with quick load times and minimal errors.
- Work closely with the team to implement new features or improve the user experience.
- Troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise.
- Stay updated on best practices in web design and accessibility.
Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WordPress, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- A passion for the outdoors and the mission of Wow-Nature.
- Previous experience maintaining websites is a plus, but not required.
