Ball’s Falls Conservation Area is located on the scenic Niagara Escarpment, featuring rich natural landscapes, numerous trails, and beautiful waterfalls, making it a favorite among locals and visitors. The Twenty Mile Creek flows through the conservation area and cascades down the Niagara Escarpment to form Ball’s Falls. The area’s buildings date back to the 19th century when it was a small village operated by the Ball brothers from Germany, who ran a mill in the region.
Short Hills Provincial Park, covering 660 hectares, is the largest park in the Niagara area, named after the low hills formed by glacial erosion over 12,000 years ago. The park offers seven trails, including the Paleozoic Trail, which provides stunning views of the Swayze Falls. Your hike will start at Ball’s Falls Conservation Area and traverse forested paths to reach Short Hills Provincial Park, covering approximately 16 kilometers and taking about 7 hours.
